At Elite Image Studio, one service we offer is microdermabrasion. You probably have heard of it, but you may not be familiar with exactly what it is. To help, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions we have heard about our microdermabrasion treatment.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a method of skin exfoliation and rejuvenation that is non-surgical and non-invasive. It works using crystals to remove the surface layer of dead skin cells on your face. It increases the blood flow to the skin to encourage new skin cells to grow, in turn smoothing your skin and evening your skin tone.

What is the process like?

First, the esthetician cleanses your face. Then, they use a microdermabrasion machine to apply aluminum oxide crystals, which attach to dead skin cells. The crystals are gently vacuumed off your face. Then, moisturizer and sunscreen are applied. There is no down time needed to recover, so you can go about your day as normal after the treatment.

Who should use microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a good option for those who have fine lines, acne scars, uneven skin pigmentation, sun damage, or clogged pores. It is appropriate for any skin type or color. People with more severe skin problems will not see as much of an effect as those with minor ones.

How long do results last?

This depends on how well you treat your skin between sessions. It is recommended that you do a series of six treatments over the course of a few months. With regular maintenance after these treatments, your results should last.
