History of Sugaring
Elite Image Studio has been around for 5 years, but the act of sugaring has existed for centuries. Sugaring is an ancient form of hair removal that has been practiced for hundreds of years. The history of body sugaring dates back to the ancient Egyptians. Inspired by Alexander the Great, the women of Alexandria considered a hairless body to be the standard of beauty, portraying youth and innocence. Women of those times also did not have the modern day inventions of showers and deodorants, and found it much easier to keep themselves fresh and clean in their hot climate if they removed their pubic and underarm hairs. They were so impressed with the results they experimented on the rest of their body hair. This left them feeling smooth, clean and much surer about themselves.
Honey was the first agent believed to be implemented in sugaring, sticking to the hair to be removed without attaching itself to any skin. Sugaring today, although not for just royals, is still prepared in a similar way. Professionals prepare the sugar wax by combining ingredients such as sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, honey, and water to form a sticky liquid that, when heated, makes a paste. The warm sugar paste can be placed onto the skin by a sugaring artist and smoothed with the natural direction of clients’ hair growth. Artists use a gentle flicking motion to remove the wax and with it, the unwanted hair. Before the sugar paste is applied, Elite Image Studio makes sure all of our clients are comfortable and relaxed in our spa environment. We will cleanse and dust the area we are working on before starting the process and explain what we are going to do. There is virtually not an inch of the body that sugaring cannot be applied to, making any area you want to be bare and beautiful. Smooth, glowing, and perfect in every sense; you will feel like royalty after each treatment and your skin will thank you.
Sugaring is still a true art today, although for different reasons, the technique is still taken seriously and is rare to come by. It takes practice to perfect it, and at Elite Image Studio, every client gets the best results every time, guaranteed.
